This is my tribute to the amazing David Bowie. I did it as a skull because I wanted to try something different than my usual portraits.*

The idea comes from his album Aladdin Sane during my favorite era of Bowie, his Ziggy Stardust years. It is loud and beautiful, like that album. The scheme was set to accent the lightning bolt that rips down his face. I like the way it make the orange of his hair really stand out. The title of the painting is a take from the song The Prettiest Star.

Recommended listening while viewing this poster as it hangs on your wall is, Aladdin Sane of course. But Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars** will also be acceptable.

*I suffered portrait burnout while getting ready for my Baddassery show in June. Plus, when he died I saw a thousand Aladdin Sane paintings and I just couldn’t make myself follow suit.

** I personally think that ZTATSFM is a better album.
